“From the River to the Sea.” The phrase in this 2024 poster refers to the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. It originated in currents of Zionism that advocated for settling the entire region, irregardless of Palestinian lives and land holdings, leading the creation of the Israeli state in 1948. The phrase has since been reclaimed by the Palestinian freedom struggle for land back and against apartheid, which will require, as the words at the bottom proclaim, “No checkpoints – no discrimination – equal rights for everyone.”
The depiction of farms, olive trees and villages in the center shows what once was, and what will be, again: freedom for all to raise their families, their animals, and their olive trees and crops.
