Je Suis

In January 2015, a terror attack took place against Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical magazine known for Islamophobic hate content.  The attack killed several staff artists. The slogan “Je Suis Charlie” (“I Am Charlie”) quickly became popular on social media, and international news covered the story in detail for weeks. Corporations changed their logo to French colors.

This poster contrasts that response to the media treatment of Black murder victims such as Michael Brown.  The poster names many others.  Such treatment often blamed them for their own deaths at the hands of police and vigilantes.
