Ricardo finished this illustration in July 2020, as racial justice uprisings swept the United States. In Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, Portland, Louisville, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., and countless other cities large and small, local, state and federal police attempted to quash the rebellion through overwhelming violence. Like in generations past, the hunger for justice has been greater than the state’s repression.
