Bayard Rustin

Bayard Rustin was an unsung hero of the Civil Rights Movement, and instrumental in organizing the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.  The Kennedy administration threatened to isolate him for being gay. As a result, he was sometimes sidelined, but always brought back for his organizing abilities.

Rustin drifted to the right later in his life, but left an indelible mark on the struggles of his day.
