Hussite Rebellion

This three-panel poster recalls the Taborites, a radical faction within the Hussite Rebellion against the Papacy and its loyal monarchs. The quote from the Taborite Chilliast Articles of 1420 demonstrates that resistance to unjust authority has always existed, even in the so-called Middle Ages and even under alleged divine rule:

“In this time no king shall reign nor any lord rule on earth. There shall be no serfdom. All interests and taxes shall cease. Nor shall any man force another to do anything because all shall be equal brothers and sisters.”

The Hussite Rebellion, 1419-1434, shook Europe’s feudal order to its foundations. The Bohemian city of Tabor, founded on revolutionary principles, represented the most radical wing of the movement. The rebellion prepared the ground for future uprisings.
