Yves Sakila
They are calling it “Ireland’s George Floyd moment.” On May 15, 2026 Yves Sakila, a 35-year-old Congolese immigrant died while being held down and knelt upon for five minutes by security guards outside a Dublin department store. He had allegedly shoplifted a bottle of perfume. The killing has sparked outrage across Ireland and put immigrant communities on edge.
This poster, with love from Minneapolis, honors both Sakila and Floyd, who was murdered in similar fashion by Minneapolis, Minnesota police on May 25, 2020. The two men will be forever connected by the anger and grief of their communities and the weight of racist oppression.
