Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman – 1821-1913

Harriet Tubman was born into slavery, but ran north to freedom at the age of 28, guided by the North Star. Then this woman worked on the Underground Railroad to free other African Americans. Over the next 16 years she made daring forays into the South, disguised as an old, half-crazy woman. She would sing songs with hidden messages in them, advising people to prepare for their escape. In this way the courageous Harriet Tubman was able to lead over 300 Black people from slavery to freedom.

This RLM poster was first released as a screenprint by Northland Poster Collective in 1990.  This digital re-release is 11×17″ and printed on cream-colored stock.
