About the exhibit:
This community-led exhibit that commemorates these five decades of my art as an activist/participant or supporter in campaigns for worker and farmer’s rights, racial justice and gender justice, international solidarity, environmental justice and peace. The exhibit will run for seven weeks, from October 5th – November 22nd and will take place at Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha or CTUL (3715 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55407). Many of the pieces to be featured in the exhibit have been used to educate, agitate and organize by grassroots organizers, teachers and faith leaders.
In addition to showcasing fifty years of activism through an artist’s eyes, and presenting several community organized events and performances within the exhibit space, the exhibit will provide an opportunity for inter-generational discussions about history, art and social justice organizing, comparing and contrasting today’s organizing – and the changing role of art – with each of the preceding five decades.
